A freelance visa is basically a two-year residency visa that lets you live and work legally in the UAE, just like someone on a normal employment visa. The main difference is — you’re not tied to one company. It’s issued under a licensed company (like ours), but you have the freedom to work with any employer, take up multiple jobs, or offer your services independently.
With this visa, you can do everything a regular resident can: apply for a UAE driving license, sponsor your wife and children, open a bank account, and even handle your own salary system through WPS. Yes, absolutely. If you hold a freelance visa, you are legally allowed to work with any company in the UAE. You’re not restricted to just working independently — many companies are open to hiring freelancers, especially if they don’t want to provide a full visa. The good news is that the company you’re working with can easily apply for a labour work permit for you under your freelance visa.
There are two types of work permits a company can issue for freelancers:
Temporary Work Permit – Valid for 6 months
Part-Time Work Permit – Valid for 12 months
The main difference is the duration. Both options allow you to legally work under the company while you remain on your freelance visa. Once the permit expires, the company can renew it if they still need your services — or if you want to stop working with them, that’s also totally fine. This system gives you full flexibility: you can legally earn, change projects, or leave companies without affecting your visa status.
